City Greenlights New Work Despite Ongoing Failures
After 291 days of construction chaos, it's disappointing but unfortunately not surprising to learn that the City of Las Vegas is allowing Gigapower and Tilson to start work in a new area near Upland and Alta (Springs Preserve Area).
Despite hundreds of documented issues, including illegal towing, ADA violations, blocked sidewalks, hazardous traffic setups, and property damage, the City has once again chosen to reward failure with expansion.
The city’s latest update confirms that they are still meeting weekly with Gigapower, but anyone walking through Crestwood, Huntridge, or Mayfair can see for themselves: the restoration is far from done, and the quality is nowhere near acceptable. Roads are still uneven, sidewalks are crumbling, and violations continue daily.
We have raised concerns repeatedly:
Unsafe work zones are set up without flaggers or approved barricade plans.
Contractors continue operating with expired or missing business licenses.
Yet instead of enforcing real accountability or ensuring safety for existing impacted neighborhoods, the City is letting Gigapower move on to new blocks while ignoring key concerns from current residents.
Allowing this project to move forward under these conditions is not progress it’s a clear failure to protect residents, enforce basic regulations, and restore public trust.
If you live in Upland, Alta, or the Springs Preserve area, get ready. This is what’s coming to your street next. And unfortunately, it’s not getting better.
