More Violations, More Chaos, and More Contractors Cutting Corners

After 244 days, it’s clear—Gigapower and Tilson’s operations are still a disaster. Instead of improving, the situation continues to spiral further out of control, with new contractors joining the mix and immediately failing to follow basic rules. This week, we highlight yet another round of serious violations, including illegal towing, reckless driving, ADA violations, and contractors operating without valid business licenses.

No Parking Signs, Lack of Notice, ADA Violations & Towing Abuses

  • Contractors in Downtown are still ignoring the City’s updated parking sign requirements, working on streets without proper notice, and towing cars before the legally required 72-hour window expires.

  • No parking signs continue to block sidewalks, violating ADA regulations.

  • The photos showing a Crestwood school zone prove that pedestrian access is being ignored. Not a single "Sidewalk Closed" sign is in use, despite their regular use by other fiber providers like Google Fiber in Las Vegas.

ARC Barricade: Another Contractor, Another Violation

  • ARC Barricade, yet another newly hired contractor on this project, was caught illegally operating flashing red and white emergency-style lights on the front of their vehicle—an apparent intimidation tactic against neighbors.

  • ARC Barricade’s City of Las Vegas Business License (G72-03095) doesn’t appear to be active.

  • 777 Towing, the company responsible for illegal towing in this project, also does not have an active business license in the City.

Tilson’s Reckless Driving – Another Near Miss

  • This week, a Tilson truck was caught driving on the wrong side of the road, nearly causing a head-on collision.

  • The driver appeared to be surveying sidewalks but, in the process, created an immediate traffic hazard and put residents at risk.

Sunrise Paving Working Outside of Approved Barricade Plans

  • On Tuesday, Sunrise Paving was working outside of a defined work zone, violating traffic control safety standards.

  • Their unauthorized work zone required flaggers, yet none were present, creating a dangerous head-on traffic situation in an already impacted neighborhood.

Tilson’s Complete Lack of Public Safety & Traffic Compliance

The video to the right sums up everything wrong with this project:

  • A Tilson worker, wearing a company vest, was seen directing live traffic using a napkin instead of required traffic control devices.

  • This is a blatant violation of safety standards and yet another example of Tilson’s disregard for public safety.

The Bigger Picture: Gigapower’s “Fly-by-Night” Contractors

Gigapower has hired and fired multiple contractors over the course of this project, and each new company comes in just as reckless as the last.

  • From Sunrise Paving working without flaggers to ARC Barricade illegally using emergency lights, the trend is clear: Gigapower is not hiring reputable contractors.

  • Instead, they are cycling through companies that show no regard for traffic laws, business licensing requirements, or basic public safety.

Requested Updates from the City of Las Vegas:

  1. An updated list of fines issued to any contractor working on the Gigapower project.

  2. An updated timeline of work in the open permits.

  3. An update on Gigapower’s response to the Notice of Noncompliance issued by the City.

The Bottom Line: This project has been a failure at every level, and the City must take action to ensure that Tilson, Gigapower, and their subcontractors are held accountable.

The neighbors have waited long enough for responsible project management, yet this project continues to fail us daily. What is being done to stop this?

The Call for Accountability

Tilson’s brazen behavior underscores the need for stricter oversight and enforcement from the City of Las Vegas. The community deserves contractors who prioritize safety and respect over cutting corners.
