Understanding the Gigapower Organizational Chart
To better understand the entities involved in the ongoing disruptions caused by the Tilson/Gigapower project, we’ve broken down the organizational structure based on available information. This chart highlights the layers of responsibility, partnerships, and subcontractors involved, providing a clearer picture of how these operations are managed.
Gigapower Project Organizational Structure
AT&T & BlackRock
AT&T and BlackRock are the principal entities behind the Gigapower project, overseeing the initiative to expand fiber optic services.
Gigapower
A joint venture between AT&T and BlackRock, Gigapower is the direct project manager and a franchisee of the City of Las Vegas, coordinating operations and managing contracts with service providers and subcontractors.
Tilson Technologies
As a key contractor, Tilson is responsible for executing the construction and installation of fiber optic infrastructure. Their tasks include:
Excavation and installation of fiber.
Coordination with subcontractors for traffic control, restoration, and utility repairs.
Subcontractors
Traffic Barricade Companies: Responsible for setting up traffic control plans (TCPs) and ensuring compliance with city regulations. Examples include The Barricade Company and others hired by Tilson.
Plumbing Repair Companies: Address damages caused by construction, such as sewer and water line disruptions. Notable subcontractors include Code Red Emergency Plumbing.
Concrete Restoration Companies: Tasked with repairing sidewalks, driveways, and other damaged surfaces. Examples include Terra Contracting and Sunrise Paving.
Towing Companies: Hired to clear vehicles for construction zones. Documented companies include Victory Towing and 777 Towing.
Accountability and Coordination
This chart reveals the complexity of the project and the multiple entities contributing to the ongoing disruptions. While Gigapower and AT&T provide overarching leadership, the execution falls to Tilson and their network of subcontractors, whose actions directly impact neighborhoods. A lack of coordination among these entities has led to repeated issues, highlighting the need for stricter oversight and clearer accountability.
What Does This Mean for Residents?
Understanding who is responsible at each level helps pinpoint accountability for the challenges our neighborhoods face. This is why we continue to call for improved transparency and communication from the city and contractors. For residents experiencing disruptions, we encourage documenting issues and reaching out to the appropriate entities listed in this hierarchy.
