The Downtown Microtrenching Project: New Year, Same Story

Blocked Sidewalks (1/3/25)
As we enter the new year, the persistent issue of blocked sidewalks remains unresolved, leaving pedestrians, especially those with mobility challenges, to navigate hazardous and often inaccessible pathways. Despite ongoing complaints and promises of improvement, Tilson’s negligence continues to create dangerous conditions for residents simply trying to move through our neighborhoods. It is clear that immediate and decisive action from the City is still needed to enforce compliance and protect public safety.

Blocked Streets (1/3/25)
Blocked streets continue to disrupt daily life in our neighborhoods, with Tilson’s work zones frequently obstructing traffic and creating unsafe streets. Residents and emergency vehicles face unnecessary delays, and the lack of effective traffic control measures only compounds the problem. Despite numerous violations documented last year, little has improved, and we urge the City to prioritize holding Tilson and their contractors accountable for these ongoing disruptions.

Blocked School Zones (1/8/25)
School zones remain a critical safety concern as Tilson’s construction sites often spill into areas near schools, creating hazardous conditions for children and families. Crosswalks and drop-off zones are regularly obstructed, forcing unsafe detours and endangering students. The new year has brought no significant changes, and the City must act now to ensure that school zones are protected and that Tilson and their contractors adhere to stricter guidelines.
